Erica joined MassDOT in June 2023 as a Coordinator in the Wetlands and Water Resources Unit, bringing with her a wealth of experience in wetlands biology and permitting. After completing her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at the University of Massachusetts - Amherst, she pursued natural resource work in both the private and non-profit sector, but has spent the majority of her career in public service. Erica was a conservation agent for a variety of municipalities over the last 20+ years prior to joining MassDOT.
At MassDOT, Erica oversees linear project wetlands permitting to support the construction advertisement program. She reviews projects and permit applications to ensure they meet regulatory requirements, and keeps a keen eye towards the avoidance, minimization, and mitigation of impacts. A favorite aspect of her role is working on large and technically complex projects, as they provide opportunities to protect natural resources through the implementation of best management practices. Erica also oversees the efforts of Environmental Analysts and co-ops, and enjoys assisting and mentoring staff as they launch their careers. She sees great value in how MassDOT’s projects and people will continue to protect our natural resources well into the future.
In her free time, Erica enjoys dancing, reading, gardening, spending time with friends and family, and walking her dog Rosie (aka the Rosienator) throughout the many conservation lands in Mass.
