Despite the federal shutdown, October SNAP benefits will be issued on time based on current information from USDA FNS.  

DTA is monitoring the situation and will issue guidance as soon as it knows more in the case of an extended shutdown.

How does the government shutdown affect my SNAP benefits?

October SNAP benefits will be issued on time. We do not currently have information on November.  

Will DTA offices remain open?

Yes, DTA offices remain open.

What about my cash benefits (TAFDC, EAEDC)?

Cash assistance programs are not affected by the federal shutdown at this time and will continue as normal. 

Can I still apply for SNAP during the shutdown?

Yes, applications continue to be processed.  

What if I have a recertification or other paperwork due to DTA during the shutdown?

Submit all required documents. DTA will continue to process documents normally. 

Will my EBT card work during the shutdown?

EBT cards will work normally. 

What other food assistance is available?

Contact Project Bread’s Food Source Hotline at (800) 645-8333 for food pantries, soup kitchens, and other emergency food assistance. WIC benefits continue normally.
