Fifth Member Position: Chicopee Retirement Board

Notice of an open fifth member position.

The Chicopee Contributory Retirement Board is seeking applicants for the position of its Fifth Member for a three-year term commencing on January 7, 2027. 

The Fifth Member, along with the other four members of the Board, acts as a fiduciary of the Retirement System and is involved in the administration of the 1,525 plus active members and 950 retirees. 

The Board meets once a month generally on the fourth Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. at City Hall. The meetings usually last between 1 - 2 hours. Occasionally additional meetings are needed or may even run longer than the 2 hours that are scheduled. 

The Fifth Member is also required to complete 18 hours of educational sessions either online, webinars or conferences in other parts of Massachusetts during the three-year term. The Fifth Member is also required to file an annual statement of financial interest with the Public Employee Retirement Administration Commission. Board Members must comply with G.L. c. 268A, the State Ethics Law. 

The Fifth Member must also become proficient in Massachusetts General Law Chapter 32. 

The Fifth Member shall NOT be an employee of the City of Chicopee, a retiree or official of the City of Chicopee. 

The annual stipend for this Fifth Member is $4,500.00 per calendar year.
