Gun Violence Prevention

Gun Violence Prevention (GVP) seeks to engage communities in planning and developing interventions in communities that experience gun violence.

What you need to know:

GVP program works with grantees in 15 communities across the Commonwealth to help youth avoid violent conflict and injury among youth ages 17 through 24. Through a racial equity and trauma-informed lens, funded partners provide critical supports, such as close connections with trustworthy adults, opportunities to learn new skills, and access to the employment training and/or opportunities.

GVP Program grantees work directly with individuals affected by gun violence by delivering evidence-based prevention, intervention, treatment, and recovery services in six core domains: street outreach, comprehensive social needs assessment and referral, mentoring, mental and behavioral health services, workforce development, community engagement, with access to 24/7 street outreach and a mentor as well as behind the wall violence prevention.
