Safety action planning primer for Massachusetts communities
A Safety Action Plan is a community-supported framework for reducing traffic fatalities and serious injuries. The process to develop a Safety Action Plan involves identifying, analyzing, and prioritizing roadway safety projects and strategies, and building a coalition of stakeholders to effectively implement these projects and strategies.
MassDOT has created a Safety Action Planning Primer for Massachusetts Communities to assist communities as they develop Safety Action Plans, using lessons learned from the MassDOT partnerships with the cities of Springfield, Lynn and Brockton in developing their Safety Action Plans. This Primer:
- Outlines the key elements of a Safety Action Plan,
- Shares success stories from Brockton, Lynn, and Springfield, and
- Highlights MassDOT resources that any community can use to jumpstart their Safety Action Plan.
