Katie joined MassDOT in 2010, after spending the first part of her career as an environmental compliance inspector with the Washington State Department of Ecology and MassDEP. She has supported MassDOT’s work on internal regulatory compliance and climate change adaptation, but primarily focuses on the evaluation of project designs for potential hazardous materials impacts, such as lead paint, asbestos, and contaminated soil and groundwater. She is happy to be able to contribute to the health and safety of the public in general and construction workers in particular and takes pleasure in spotting “her” projects during her travels around Massachusetts.
Katie has walked across England, lost on Jeopardy!, and dressed up as Woodsy Owl for the Army Corps of Engineers. She enjoys reading, hiking, travel, and playing computer games (though she admits she isn’t very good at them).
