Learn about the Hazardous Materials Emergency Preparedness (HMEP) Grant

Pending the availability of funds, MEMA - through an annual sub-grant application process - makes HMEP funding available to Local and Regional Emergency Planning Committees.

MEMA’s Hazardous Material Emergency Preparedness (HMEP) subgrants are reimbursement-based sub-grant, providing funds to assist Local and Regional Emergency Planning Committees (EPCs) to "develop, improve, and carry out emergency plans" within the National Response System and the Emergency Planning and Community Right-To-Know Act (EPCRA) of 1986. HMEP funds may be used toward hazardous materials planning, training, and exercise activities. Additional information about the grant program and application process may be found in MEMA's Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO), which is provided below when the sub-grant program is open.
