Overview

The Federal Land & Water Conservation Fund provides up to 50% of the total project cost for the acquisition, development, and renovation of:

  • Parks
  • Trails
  • Conservation areas

FY26 Grant Information

Two information sessions will be held:  the first on Monday, November 17, 2025 at 11:00 am at the DFW Field Headquarters in Westboro and the second on Wednesday, December 3, 2025 at 2:00 pm on Microsoft Teams.  It is highly preferable to attend the in-person workshop.  While not required, it is strongly recommended that applicants attend one of the workshops.  Please RSVP for a workshop to melissa.cryan@mass.gov.  When you RSVP, specify which you will be attending.  If you select the virtual workshop, you will receive the Microsoft Teams invitation upon RSVPing.

Grant deadline:  Applications must be submitted via EEA’s new Grant Management System. Applications must be submitted by Thursday, January 8, 2026 at 3:00 pm.

A hard copy of the application must also be mailed to the address below by the grant deadline.  The outside of the package should be marked FY26LAND0025.  Applications should be double sided, except for maps and graphics, and submitted to:

Eligible Projects

Eligible projects include: 

  • Acquisition of parkland or conservation land
  • Creation of new parks 
  • Renovations to existing parks 
  • Development of trails 

Eligible Applicants

Eligible applicants include:

  • Municipalities that have an up-to-date Open Space and Recreation Plan 
  • Department of Conservation and Recreation
  • Department of Fish and Game 
  •  Massachusetts federally recognized tribes (Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe and Wampanoag Tribe of Gay Head - Aquinnah)
