MCAD Internship Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Below are some frequently asked questions regarding the MCAD Internship Program.

The MCAD offers internships that give students firsthand experience working at the state agency charged with enforcing the Massachusetts anti-discrimination laws. Currently, the MCAD has internship opportunities with the Administrative, Communications, Investigations (Employment Law & Housing Law), General Counsel, Human Resources, Legal, and Training teams.

How do I apply?

Do I have to be a current student to apply for an MCAD internship?

Yes, the MCAD only accepts applications from undergraduate and graduate degree students in academic good standing. ​

Do I have to be at least 18 years old to apply for an MCAD internship?

Yes, you must be at least 18 years old to apply.

When are Applications Due?

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis and we encourage you to apply as early as possible. Generally, Fall internship applications are due by August 1^st; Spring internship applications are due by December 1^st, and Summer internship applications are due by May 1^st.

How long are Internships?

Internships follow the academic year. We offer internships during the fall, spring, and summer trimesters that last roughly 12-16 weeks.

Are all internships full-time?

No, MCAD offers part-time and full-time internships. Hours vary by role. See each listing for more information.

Are all internships paid?

No, the MCAD does not currently offer internship stipends.

Are MCAD internships eligible for school credit?

Yes.

Why doesn’t every office have every internship opportunity?

Our offices vary in size and not every team has team members in every office.

What documents do I need to submit with my application?

Please submit a cover letter, resume, and writing sample along with your online application.
