Middle-Income Heating Oil Relief

This winter, to help households with the rising cost of buying home heating oil, Governor Healey is making available additional state funds to provide more home energy assistance to thousands of middle-income households who rely on heating oil and do not qualify for the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP).

Program Eligibility Information 

If you heat your home with #2 home heating oil, you may qualify for a one-time benefit of up to $680.

Your total gross household income must be more than 60% but less than 100% of the State Median Income (SMI).

Applications for this one-time benefit will open in December 2026.

Middle-income households that heat with #2 home heating oil with a total gross income of more than 60% but less than 100% of the state median income could be eligible for an estimated one-time emergency benefit of up to $680.
