Municipal Fleet Safety Grant program eligibility

Eligible applicants include Massachusetts cities and towns. Applicants may submit one application per funding round. Applicants may request up to $75,000.

Eligible vehicles

Medium-duty (Class 3-5) and Heavy-duty (Class 6-8) municipally owned or leased vehicles.

Eligible safety devices

  • Lateral Protective Devices
  • Convex Mirrors
  • Cross-over Mirrors
  • Cameras, including 360 and back-up cameras

Eligible costs

  • Purchase of safety devices
  • Installation costs of safety devices

Ineligible costs

  • Vehicle purchases
  • Fleet assessments or planning activities
  • Administrative costs or ongoing maintenance

Maximum reimbursement by equipment type

MassDOT will reimburse eligible equipment costs up to the maximum amounts listed below. Applicants may request less than the maximum reimbursement amount based on actual project costs.
