Notice of Election

To all Members, Active, Inactive and Retired of The Malden Contributory Retirement System:
At the Meeting of the Malden Retirement Board held on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, it was voted:
To designate the 5th Board Member Scott Lucey as Election Officer (840 CMR 7.02, PERAC)
To conduct an election for two candidates to serve on the Malden Retirement Board. Each Term is for three years and will commence on December 1, 2026, through November 30, 2029, as set forth in 840 CMR 7.01 Standard Rules for Elections promulgated by the Public Employees Retirement Administration Commission pursuant to Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 7, Section 50 and Massachusetts General Law, Chapter 32, Section 21. The stipend for these positions is $4,500.00 per year paid in monthly installments.
Nominations:
Any active or retired member of the Malden Contributory Retirement System is eligible to serve as elected member of the Retirement Board. Nomination papers require qualified signatures and address of at least twenty (20) identifiable members of the Malden Contributory Retirement System (840 CMR 7.04, PERAC). Nomination papers will be available in the Malden Retirement Office beginning on Monday, August 10, 2026, and must be received back at the Malden Retirement Office no later than 4:00 pm on Wednesday, September 23, 2026. Ballot:
Official Election Ballot (840 CMR 7.06, PERAC)
Qualified candidates shall be listed on the Official ballot to be determined by a random drawing of the names of the candidates. If the incumbent elected members are nominated, he or she shall be identified as the incumbents on the official ballot. All candidates on the ballot will have their current or former position listed next to the name. There is also an option to give a personal statement about themselves in 100 words or less, which will be included with ballots when mailed out to voters.
Ballots with return instructions will be mailed to all members and must be received by the Malden Retirement Office at 215 Pleasant Street no later than 4:00 P.M. on Monday, November 23, 2026. Ballots will be counted at 9:00 A.M. on Tuesday, November 24, 2026 and continued through completion.
