The Physical Ability Test (PAT) required of applicants consists of a series of job simulated tasks. They include a 30-pound weight lift and carry, a 100-meter straight line run, climbing and descending 14 flights of stairs, a 100-meter obstacle course, a 165-pound dummy drag, and a dexterity test. Applicants must complete the course in no more than 5 minutes and 31 seconds. Applicants must be cleared in advance by a medical care provider to take the PAT and are encouraged to prepare physically for the test as it is physically challenging. Additional information about the PAT will be sent to applicants when invited to take the test. A video depiction of the PAT can be viewed on this page.
Standard test that all prospective court officers of the Massachusetts Trial Court must pass.
