SafetyWorks Training Grant

SafetyWorks Training Grants help employers reduce the risk of injury and illness to workers and promote safe and healthy conditions in the workplace through training, education, and other preventative measures.

The SafetyWorks Training Grant, administered by the Office of Safety within the Department of Industrial Accidents (DIA) and established under M.G.L. c. 23E, § 3, provides eligible Massachusetts-based employers in good standing with funding for employee training to prevent or address workplace injuries. Employers may request up to $25,000 per grant. Grant awards are determined based on available funding and subject to review and approval by the DIA Office of Safety.

How it works

To participate, your organization must be covered by and compliant with the Massachusetts Workers’ Compensation Act (M.G.L. c. 152).

This is a reimbursement program, so all training must be pre-approved and conducted after a contract is signed by both your organization and the Commonwealth. Funds will be distributed once all contractual documents are complete.

Important: Any training or costs incurred before a contract is signed are not eligible for reimbursement. Invoices dated prior to contract execution cannot be paid.

The grant year runs from July 1 to June 30. All grant-funded training must be completed by June 30, and invoices for reimbursement must be submitted by July 15 of the same fiscal year.
