Coastal Floodplain Resilience

MassDEP was awarded an EPA WPDG grant in 2021 and has produced outreach materials focused on reaching a wide public audience to enable better public understanding of the purpose and goals of protecting Land Subject to Coastal Storm Flowage (LSCSF), also known as the coastal floodplain. These products are now available to the public for education and outreach.

Brochures

Brochures designed for a wide-reaching audience that describe coastal floodplain functions and how they support storm damage prevention, flood control and the state’s climate resiliency effort. These brochures are available in English, Spanish, Portuguese and Arabic.

  • Our Vital Coastal Floodplains brochure explains what is a coastal floodplain, why it is important and how to tell if someone if within coastal floodplain.
  • Coastal Floodplains Under Pressure brochure explains how coastal floodplains are impacted and how to protect them.
