Supreme Judicial Court Job Opportunity – Associate Fiscal Officer

Position Summary:


Working within the Fiscal Department of the Supreme Judicial Court, the Associate Fiscal Officer will perform a variety of budget, financial, human resource, and payroll related functions for the court.

Major Duties:


The following represents a partial list of the duties and responsibilities performed by the individual in this position:

  • Prepare and enter encumbrances and disbursements into MOSAIC (the state’s financial application).
  • Assist in data input into the Human Resources/Compensation Management System (HR/CMS).
  • Maintain and reconcile employee and contractor time and attendance.
  • Assist SJC departments with procurements and prepare required documents.
  • Assist with preparation of annual service contracts and interdepartmental service agreements.
  • Work with vendors on inquiries and coordinate supply orders for SJC departments.
  • Assist with management, reporting, and record keeping of federal grants.
  • Perform related duties as required.
Supervision:


The Associate Fiscal Officer will report directly to the Chief Fiscal Officer, and also receive direction from the Deputy Fiscal Officer.

Position Requirements:
 
  • Bachelor’s degree and three years of state fiscal experience or any combination of education and experience which would provide the applicant with the desired knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the job.
  • Knowledge of state fiscal procedures.
  • Knowledge of MOSAIC and HR/CMS.
  • Knowledge of the state procurement process.
  • Ability to generate and analyze financial reports using the Commonwealth Information Warehouse System.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to independently identify, analyze, and solve problems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and in writing.
  • Ability to handle sensitive matters with discretion.
  • Ability to organize tasks in an efficient manner, and to follow-up with strong attention to detail.
Residency Requirement:


By law, only individuals who are residents of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts may serve as employees of the Judicial branch.

Salary:


Salary is Job Grade 17 with a range from $85,484.45 (Step 1) to $114,536.87 (Step 8). New employees typically begin at or near Step 1 and thereafter receive annual increases through Step 8.

Other Notes:


This posting is for a position located at the John Adams Courthouse in Boston, MA, although the Supreme Judicial Court has a remote work policy under which employees may be allowed to work remotely for part of their weekly schedule.
