The Governor's Youth Climate Council

The Governor's Youth Climate Council was created in 2023 by Governor Maura Healey and Climate Chief Melissa Hoffer to advise the Governor and Office of Climate Innovation and Resilience (OCIR) on climate policy.

The YCC is a dedicated group of Massachusetts-based high school students with a passion for addressing tackling climate issues. The Council meets on a monthly basis throughout the school year (September through June) and writes a set of recommendations to the Governor for climate policy, typically with a focus on a particular topic, such as school decarbonization or enabling youth climate action. Applications for the Council open in the summer and are open to rising high school sophomores through seniors.

2025-2026 YCC Members

The Council is comprised of approximately 30 dedicated high school sophomores through seniors, all coming from different communities across the state of Massachusetts. Members are chosen based on a demonstrated passion for climate action and interest in learning about climate policy.
