Project update & construction look-ahead: November 1 – November 30, 2025
What is happening?
This project update will cover anticipated activities for the month of November 2025.
The following construction activities will occur during the day underneath the Viaduct:
- Periodic inspections of the entire Viaduct
- Fence re-installation
- Clean up and demobilization
The following construction activities will occur overnight underneath the Viaduct:
- Clean up and demobilization
The following construction activities will occur on Route 38 Mystic Ave Northbound and I-93 Northbound on-ramp:
- Steel repairs and bridge bearing replacement
- Vehicular and pedestrian traffic control

How will this affect you?
Traffic impacts
Beginning November 12:
- Route 38 Mystic Avenue Northbound underpass closure and detour between Middlesex Avenue and Grant Street beginning at 6:00 AM on Wednesday November 12th to 6:00am on Monday November 24th.
- Route 38 Mystic Avenue Northbound U-Turn to I-93 and Route 38 Mystic Avenue Southbound closure and detour beginning at 6:00 AM on Wednesday November 12th to 6:00am on Monday November 24th.
- Route 38 Mystic Avenue Northbound On-Ramp to I-93 Northbound closure and detour from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM Sunday through Saturday each night as needed.
- I-93 Northbound Exit 21 Off-Ramp closure and detour from 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM Sunday through Saturday each night as needed.
Beginning November 12:
- Kensington Connector closure from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM Sunday through Saturday as needed.

Traffic warning signs will be used onsite to notify the traveling public about the planned closures.

MBTA bus stop relocation
Beginning Wednesday November 12, 2025, and on-going until 6:00am on Monday, November 24 at 6:00am , the MBTA Route 95 bus stop at Mystic Avenue, opposite Kensington Avenue, will be temporarily relocated to Middlesex Avenue at Foley Street. Please see the graphic below for more details. There is also pedestrian signage on the route notifying and directing travelers along the detour for the stop relocation.
