Veterans Memorial Cemeteries Eligibility and Fees

The Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemeteries are Commonwealth operated cemeteries that are open to eligible veterans and dependents.

Eligibility

Below are the burial eligibility requirements for any Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery:

Military Service

  1. Veteran was discharged or released from active-duty service (other than for training) under honorable conditions, OR
  2. Veteran served at least 20 years in the National Guard or United States Reserve and is in receipt of a military pension or has documentation verifying he/she/they will receive retirement pay at age 60, in accordance with Title 10, Chapter 1223, OR
  3. Any member of the Armed Forces of the United States who died on active duty.

A determination of eligibility will be conducted by our staff once that paperwork is submitted.

Required Documents

  • Registration for Interment Application
  • All Military Discharge Paperwork (DD-214)
  • Birth Certificate(s) OR Driver's License/State ID Card
  • Marriage Certificate (if applicable)

Fees

  • Veterans:

    • No charge

  • Spouse/Dependents fee:
    • $300 full casket burial
    • $150 cremation interment

Payable only at time of interment. There is a $200 fee for all disinterments. All fees subject to change without notice.
