Vivian is a dedicated Female Veteran who served with distinction in the Massachusetts National Guard 114th Yankee Division from 1981 to 1985. Her journey continued in November 1985 when she enlisted for Active Duty, seeking to maximize her potential in the Army. Deployed to Ft. Stewart in Georgia in January 1986, Vivian served as a Combat Medic with the MOS 91B, rising to Staff Sergeant (E6) through her hard work and dedication.
Throughout her military career, Vivian embraced leadership roles, starting as a squad leader in Nurnberg, Germany. Under the mentorship of her Platoon Sergeant, Rhonda Williams, Vivian honed her leadership skills and carried them forward as she progressed in rank. Despite not being deployed to Operation Desert Storm, Vivian's contributions were invaluable, particularly as the NCOIC of the Emergency Room at Weed Army Medical Hospital, where she ensured operational readiness and trained personnel for deployment.
Vivian's military journey took her through various challenges and experiences, including training in Fort Irwin and deployment to Fairbanks, Alaska. As a Female Veteran, she understands the unique struggles and unseen scars that many women in the military carry. Today, Vivian remains committed to supporting her fellow veterans, advocating for their rights, and overcoming obstacles through various federal and state veteran organizations.
