William Warren Scholarship Rules and Application

The William E. Warren Program is a competitive scholarship program that provides financial assistance to foster youth based on academic merit and financial need.

Following are the eligibility rules:

AgeUnder the age of 25 as of the application date
School EnrollmentFull time or part time at eligible Title IV post secondary certificate or degree-granting program; Contact your school to confirm if it is eligible
Previous EducationHigh school diploma or GED/HiSET certificate
Foster Care Experience

Any of the following:

  • Currently in DCF custody
  • Previously in DCF custody for a minimum of one year
Other Requirements
  • Demonstrate academic potential and commitment to educational goals
  • Demonstrate significant unmet financial need
  • Demonstrate ability to overcome challenges and obstacles
Additional Supporting Documentation Required
  • Submitted FAFSA application (reflecting a MA address) or a MASFA alternative application for undocumented students
  • Financial aid award letter
  • Tuition bill/detailed account history
  • A letter of recommendation from someone who has known you for 6+ months and is not a relative or a friend
  • Copy of most recent high school or college transcript
  • Essay
  • Resume
  • Signed W-9 tax form

Submit this William E. Warren scholarship application by email or mail August.  All students who submit a completed application by the deadline will receive an application decision by October 30th.
