Crisis Intervention for Youth and Adults:

The mission of the Mobile Crisis Team is to respond rapidly, to assess effectively, and to facilitate a course of treatment intended to promote recovery, ensure safety, and stabilize the crisis in a manner that allows a person to receive necessary services in the least restrictive environment available. Our Mobile Crisis Team, currently dispatched out of our main office at 166 Camp Street in Hyannis, will respond to the location of the behavioral health crisis, wherever that might be.

Once you (or someone else calling on your behalf) contact the hotline, we will be to your location in about an hour. If you would prefer to come to our urgent care center, we welcome you to come to our office at 116 Camp Street.

Just like an urgent care health center where you might seek help for a medical problem that can’t wait, but doesn’t require care in a hospital emergency department, the Bay Cove Urgent Care Center in Hyannis accepts walk-in appointments for your urgent behavioral health needs. While this is a walk-in, non-appointment service, we do request that, if possible, you call us prior to arriving to ensure a clinician will be there to greet you.

Adult Community Crisis Stabilization

The goal of the Cape Cod Adult Community Crisis Stabilization program is to assist individuals in crises to stabilize, to strengthen their coping resources and supports, and to partner with them in developing plans to improve their wellbeing.

The Adult Community Crisis Stabilization program provides state of the art diversionary care to individuals who would benefit from placement in a program where they can be safely maintained in a less restrictive level of care than an inpatient unit. The unit is an unlocked, voluntary space where people in crisis are provided with comprehensive medical, psychiatric and addiction assessment and treatment that promote their overall stabilization and return to the community.

Youth Community Crisis Stabilization

Youth Community Crisis Stabilization is provided through a partnership arrangement with Child and Family Services and is located in New Bedford. The program works with children/adolescents, up to and including the age of 18, who are experiencing behavioral health symptoms that would best be helped in a short term 24 hour voluntary treatment setting.

The primary function of the program is to provide short-term crisis stabilization, therapeutic interventions, and a high degree of supervision and structure. The treatment provided at the program is carefully coordinated with existing or newly established community based treatment provider(s). Services are provided in a comfortable, youth and family friendly environment conducive to recovery and stabilization.

Outpatient Therapy

Outpatient therapy can take many forms, depending on the client’s needs. Individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy, and couples therapy can all be provided at the Bay Cove Behavioral Health & Wellness Center. Therapy sessions range in frequency, including weekly, twice per week, every other week, and monthly, depending on the individual client’s need and progress in treatment.

Our therapists practice from many different theoretical orientations and can offer clients a range of intervention styles, enabling us to provide treatment specific to each situation.

Psychopharm Services

Behavioral health exists on a spectrum, and while not all behavioral health issues require medical treatment from a psychiatrist, if the client and the client’s treatment team feel that a consultation with a prescriber is worth exploring, we provide expedited access to ongoing psychopharm services for youth and adults.

Our prescribing providers evaluate clients for their medical and psychiatric needs, prescribe and monitor medications and refer to other medical services when appropriate. With client involvement, we also coordinate with primary care providers and any specialty medical provider to ensure a team-based approach to the person’s behavioral health and medical needs.

Care Coordination

Bay Cove Behavioral Health & Wellness Center believes strongly in addressing the wellness and recovery of the whole person. Our Care Coordinators work to coordinate care across the full spectrum of health services, including facilitating access to high quality physical healthcare (both acute and chronic), facilitating access to services addressing specific behavioral healthcare needs, as well as addressing needs connected to the five domains of the Social Determinants of Health:

  • Economic Stability
  • Education Access and Quality
  • Health Care Access and Quality
  • Neighborhood and Built Environment
  • Social and Community Context

URGENT CARE CENTER

Peer Services:

Sometimes you just need to talk to someone who knows what you are going through. The Bay Cove Behavioral Health and Wellness Center peer staff is composed of family partners, certified peer specialists and recovery coaches. Our team works with individuals to overcome barriers and stigma that can be associated with seeking behavioral health treatment and by assisting individuals to understand their medical and behavioral health system of care.

We work to educate and empower individuals on different behavioral health interventions, and can provide support for clients as they navigate the behavioral health system to assure clients receive the care they need when they need it.

PEER SERVICES

Substance Use Services:

Addiction is a complex disease that can affect many areas of a person’s life, and requires individualized treatments addressing both the presenting symptoms and the underlying causes of the disease. The Bay Cove Behavioral Health and Wellness Center offers Substance Use counseling onsite, and has access to further substance use treatments through an affiliation with Duffy Health Center. The arrangement between Bay Cove and Duffy allows access to same-day induction for medications for opioid use disorder treatment.
