Facilities at State Police Medford Barracks
Located beside Wellington Circle where Route 16 and 28 converge, Station A-4, SP Medford, began its construction in the 1960s, earning the moniker "the Fells." Initially, in 1992, it underwent a brief name change to H-3, only to be reverted back to its current identification as A-4 Medford. The station's original site was demolished and relocated to its present position during the construction of Rte 93 in the mid-1950s.
The station's jurisdiction spans more than 70 square miles, covering nine densely inhabited cities and towns. It oversees the bustling Routes 93, 16, and 60, in addition to managing over 5500 acres of Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) park reservations, recreational zones, and DCR roads within the Middlesex Fells and Mystic Valley Parkways. A-4 Medford stands out for its mix of dense urban population and premier recreational facilities, highlighting its diversity within the state.
