Facilities
Station A-1 is located on State Highway 125 at the juncture with State Highway 28 in Andover. Initially, the barracks provided rural patrol services, addressing road patrol duties and the policing needs of surrounding towns.
Following the construction of the interstate highways in the 1950s, the patrol areas shifted focus to Interstate 93 and Interstate 495. The coverage area now spans over 222 square miles, including 12 cities and towns.
The major roadways within this jurisdiction include Interstate 93, from Reading to the New Hampshire border, and Route 495 from the Ward Hill Connector in Haverhill to State Highway 3 in Lowell. Additionally, State Police Andover patrols the Lowell Connector, Route 213, and the Harold Parker State Forest.
