DUR Program

The Drug Utilization Review (DUR) program was established in accordance with 42 USC 1396r-8. The main goal of the DUR Program is to ensure that prescribed drugs are appropriate, medically necessary, and not likely to result in medication-related problems.

DUR Board

The Drug Utilization Review (DUR) board is comprised of physicians and pharmacists and functions in an advisory capacity to assist MassHealth in the performance of drug utilization review. The DUR Board makes recommendations concerning types of ongoing provider and member interventions and evaluates the results of these interventions. The Board also assists in the development of clinical guidelines to be used in the DUR program. DUR Board Meetings are held quarterly.

DUR Meetings

The Drug Utilization Review (DUR) meetings are held once a month on Wednesday, except during the month of August. The DUR has two meeting types, clinical workgroup and full board. The clinical workgroup meetings are closed to the public and full board meetings are open to the public. DUR Board Meeting Public Forum

The Drug Utilization Review (DUR) meeting public forum is time set aside for members of the public to address the DUR board.
