The MassHealth Drug Utilization Review (DUR) program was established in accordance with 42 USC 1396r-8. The main goal of the DUR Program is to ensure that prescribed drugs are
- Appropriate
- Medically necessary, and
- Not likely to result in medication-related problems.
DUR Board
The Drug Utilization Review (DUR) board is made up of physicians and pharmacists. It functions in an advisory capacity to help MassHealth in the performance of DUR. The DUR Board makes recommendations about types of ongoing provider and member interventions. It then evaluates the results of these interventions. The Board also helps to develop clinical guidelines used in the DUR program. DUR Board Meetings are held quarterly.
DUR Meetings
DUR meetings are held once a month on Wednesday, except during August.
There are 2 DUR meeting types
- Clinical workgroup and
- Full board.
The clinical workgroup meetings are closed to the public. The full board meetings are open to the public. On these web pages you can view and download the current DUR board meeting schedule and agendas. You can also download previous DUR board meeting minutes and agendas.
DUR Board Meeting Public Forum
The DUR meeting public forum is time set aside for members of the public to address the DUR board. The DUR board meetings generally sets aside up to 15 minutes. The maximum time allotted to each member of the public is 5 minutes.
