During the first quarter of Calendar Year 2026:
- The Civil Service Commission received 71 new appeals and closed out 46.
- The open case inventory of appeals as of March 31, 2026 is 146.
- 6 appeals have been pending before the Commission for more than 12 months as of March 31, 2026.
- The average age of a pending appeal is 18 weeks as of March 31, 2026.

Civil Service Commission
The Civil Service Commission is an independent, neutral appellate tribunal and investigative entity. We hear and decide appeals filed by certain state and municipal employees and candidates for positions covered by the civil service law, including discipline, layoff, bypass, examination and classification appeals, in addition to conducting investigations related to alleged violations of the civil service law.
