Boston —  State Auditor Suzanne M. Bump announced two recent hires to her external and legislative affairs team. Betsy Wall has been hired as the director of external affairs, and Abigail Durland has been hired as a legislative affairs assistant.

Wall and Durland will work to expand outreach to legislators and external stakeholders to ensure that the office is using its expertise to provide recommendations to solve government’s challenges in the areas it is most needed. In addition, they will work to support Bump’s Accountability Agenda—a series of bills intended to promote innovation and accountability in state government.

“Betsy and Abigail bring significant energy and experience to their positions,” Bump said of the hires. “Their history working with diverse stakeholder groups and lawmakers on both sides of the aisle will ensure the work of my office is making government work better for the residents of the Commonwealth.”

Wall brings to the position extensive experience in the public, private, and non-profit sectors, having previously served as Executive Director of the Massachusetts Marketing Partnership. Most recently she worked at Northwind Strategies.

Durland most recently served as a policy analyst for Rep. Brad Jones. She previously served as an intern in Bump’s office in 2014. She is a resident of Boston.
