Patricia Houpt was sworn-in by State Auditor Suzanne M. Bump on Monday, January 11, 2021 to serve on the state’s Health Policy Commission.

BostonToday, State Auditor Suzanne M. Bump appointed Patricia Houpt to serve on the Health Policy Commission (HPC). Houpt was sworn-in during a virtual ceremony. The seat Houpt will fill on the board requires an individual with a demonstrated expertise as a purchaser of health insurance representing business management or health benefits administration.

Houpt recently retired from the New England Employee Benefits Council (NEEBC) where she served as executive director for eight years. NEEBC is a 1,200 member organization and is the region's leading source of employee benefits and rewards education and information. Previously, she was the founder and president of PMH Insurance Associates. She has served on the board of directors for the New England Society of Association Executives and also founded the Sudbury Military Support Network. She is a graduate of Denison University.

Houpt replaces Rick Lord, the former director and CEO of Associated Industries of Massachusetts.

Established in 2012, HPC is an independent state agency charged with monitoring health care spending throughout the Commonwealth and providing data-driven policy recommendations regarding health care delivery and payment reform.

Bump’s other appointees to the HPC are Barbara Blakeney and Timothy Foley.
