Boston — On Friday, April 5, 2019, Deputy Auditor Pamela Lomax spoke to participants of the 72nd annual Student Government Day at the Massachusetts State House. Speaking on behalf of the Office of the State Auditor Suzanne M. Bump, Lomax highlighted ways the office makes government work better for the residents of the Commonwealth.
The Student Government Day program enables students from across the Commonwealth to serve in the roles of elected or appointed officials and to participate in the government process.
After speaking to the student participants, Lomax met with student auditor Shreya Kumar and alternative student auditor Meenakshi Ramakrishnan, both from The Bromfield School in Harvard, MA. During their meeting, she presented the two students with citations from Auditor Bump.
During the Student Government Day program, students have the opportunity to learn, first-hand, about state government and are able to voice their positions on important issues during simulated committee hearings and legislative sessions of the House of Representatives and the Senate. The Student Government Day program also provides students with the opportunity to exchange views with their peers on statewide issues.
