Berkshire Juvenile Probation staff are joining with the Northern Berkshire Community Coalition to supply local children with necessary Back-to-School essentials as part of the two-day “Back-Packed for Success” event.

The backpacks will contain such items as notebooks, pens and pencils, erasers, rulers, etc.

“We’re excited about participating in this community engagement event that will benefit children and give families—many of whom might be struggling— a break. Having adequate school supplies will make a huge difference for children,” said Shannon Mauer, Berkshire Juvenile Court Assistant Chief Probation Officer.

Probation Officers will be on hand to pass out backpacks at the Gabriel Abbott School in Florida, Massachusetts, on August 11th and service children in the town and in Savoy.

Berkshire Juvenile PO’s are also scheduled to hand out backpacks on August 13th, at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Parish Center in North Adams. This effort will benefit children in Adams, Cheshire, Clarksburg, North Adams, and Williamstown. Families are required to register to attend.
