New Bedford Juvenile Probation staff registered attendees for raffles for beauty salon and barbershop visits, served dinner to 80 attendees, assisted with the Bingo game, and arts and crafts. They organized donated clothing and helped with breakdown and clean-up at evening’s end. In addition to the care packages, New Bedford Juvenile Probation staff provided door and Bingo prizes. They also distributed care packages which contained personal hygiene products, snacks, and water.

“This event could not have been achieved at this level of success—in this CPO’s opinion—if it were not for the drive and tenacity of ACPO Andrade and her staff,” said Christopher Gray, Bristol Juvenile Chief Probation Officer. “ACPO Andrade’s level of devotion and commitment to the families she serves in the New Bedford area within Bristol County is second to none.”

New Bedford Juvenile Probation staff who helped coordinate the event include:

  • PO II Daniel O'Brien
  • PO Jessica Borges
  • PO Melissa Gonet
  • APO Andrea Silva
  • APO Shayna DeBarros
  • POM Kelly Ferreira-Reitman
  • PO II Ronald Ferrero
  • PCS Brooke Cardoza-DaSilva
  • PCS Danielle Bill

Ms. Andrade acknowledged the community businesses, organizations, and individuals who contributed the success of the day.

Steppingstones/Safe Grounds staff expressed gratitude to the probation volunteers and the attendees thanked New Bedford Juvenile with handwritten notes:

“Thank you…I appreciate you.”

“Thank you for your help…it is beautiful.”

Community engagement is a top priority of the Massachusetts Probation Service.
