Alice Barros, Brockton District Court Probation Officer, was presented with the 2026 Heroina Award from the Cape Verdean Association of Boston.
Ms. Barros was honored for "her contributions to the Cape Verdean community and beyond" on March 27th , which is also Women's Day in Cabo Verde. State Senators Nick Collins and Liz Miranda also presented PO Barros with a citation.
“Their leadership, talent, and dedication continue to make a lasting impact across industries, uplifting women and the Cabo Verdean community in Boston,” the Cape Verdean Association stated in an announcement.
Ms. Barros began working for the courts as an intern at the Dorchester Division of Boston Municipal Court (BMC). She became a member of the administrative staff, an Associate Probation Officer, and later was promoted to a Probation Officer’s position at Brockton District Court.
“I’m truly honored to be recognized,” said Ms. Barros.
"We are extremely proud of Alice and appreciate her great work and contributions to clients, the court, and community. I am especially proud and happy to see her ascension in the MPS ranks. Alice began as an intern, moved into a clerical position, became an Associate Probation Officer, and is now a Probation Officer,” said Brockton District Court Chief Probation Officer Michael Branch.
