Press Release  Bynum placed on bail and a curfew for his part in an October shooting

PITTSFIELDA Pittsfield man was arraigned this afternoon in Berkshire Superior Court on several charges.  20 year old JOSAIAH T. BYNUM appeared before Judge Daniel Ford.   

BYNUM had not guilty pleas entered on his behalf on two (2) counts of ARMED ASSAULT WITH INTENT TO MURDER, one (1) count of ILLEGAL POSSESSION OF A FIREARM and one (1) count of DISCHARGING A FIREARM WITHIN 500 FEET OF A BUILDING.  Judge Ford released him on $5,000 bail on the condition BYNUM not possess any dangerous weapons and abide by an 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. curfew.       

The charges stem from an incident in Pittsfield on October 2, 2017.  It is alleged that BYNUM was involved in an attempt to harm a 38 year old man and a 25 year old woman.    

The investigation was conducted by members of the Pittsfield Police Department, with assistance from the Berkshire County Sheriff’s Office, and State Police Detectives assigned to the District Attorney’s Office, members of the Berkshire Law Enforcement Task Force, the Massachusetts State Police Crime Scene Services Section and the Massachusetts State Police Firearms Identification Section.
