PITTSFIELDA Pittsfield man pleaded guilty this afternoon in Berkshire Superior Court in connection with the death of a Goshen man.  22 year old PETER CAMPBELL appeared before Judge John Agostini. 

CAMPBELL pleaded guilty to one (1) count of MANSLAUGHTER and two (2) counts of ARMED ASSAULT WITH INTENT TO ROB.  Judge Agostini ordered that he serve concurrent 4 and a half to 6 year sentences at the Massachusetts Correctional Institution at Cedar Junction.    

CAMPBELL pleaded guilty to being part of a joint venture to rob 29 year old Anthony Gamache.  During the course of the robbery, Gamache was shot in the leg by CAMPBELL’S accomplice, whose case is still pending.  The shooting occurred in the Big Y parking lot in Pittsfield on November 18, 2014.  Gamache died the next day at Cooley Dickinson Hospital, in Northampton.       

CAMPBELL also pleaded guilty to one (1) count of INTIMIDATION OF A WITNESS OR OTHER PERSON.  Judge Agostini ordered that he serve a concurrent 2 to 2 and a half year state prison sentence on that charge. 

CAMPBELL admitted intimidating a witness in a criminal matter.  This incident occurred between October 16, 2015 and November 2, 2015

 The investigations were conducted by members of the Pittsfield Police Department and state police detectives assigned to the District Attorney’s Office.
