Press Release  Carnute pleads guilty, sent to jail

PITTSFIELDA Pittsfield man pleaded guilty this afternoon in Berkshire Superior Court to several charges.  56 year old RICHARD M. CARNUTE appeared before Judge John Agostini. 

CARNUTE pleaded guilty to one (1) count of ASSAULT BY MEANS OF A DANGEROUS WEAPON, one (1) count of STRANGULATION OR SUFFOCATION, one (1) count of ASSAULT AND BATTERY ON A FAMILY OR HOUSEHOLD MEMBER, one (1) count of INTIMIDATION OF A WITNESS OR OTHER PERSON and one (1) count of VIOLATION OF A RESTRAINING ORDER.  Judge Agostini ordered that he serve concurrent 21 month sentences at the Berkshire County House of Correction.          

The charges stem from an incident in Pittsfield involving a 53 year old woman between June 5, 2016 and June 8, 2016.         

The investigation was conducted by members of the Pittsfield Police Department.
