Xander Rueyevean, a Charlestown High School junior and a dedicated member of the Charlestown Boys & Girls Club, will be named “Co-Commissioner for the Day” by Probation Commissioner Pamerson Ifill on Monday, October 6th, 2025 during an 11 am ceremony. This event will be held at the Office of the Commissioner of Probation, One Ashburton Place, Room 405, in Boston.

This student acknowledgement and celebration is hosted by Commissioner Ifill to recognize children who are student leaders and or have overcome challenges. The Commissioner previously recognized 9-year-old Tairih King, who had undergone several rounds of treatment at Dana Farber for Hodgkin lymphoma.

Massachusetts Trial Court Chief Justice Heidi Brieger will swear in Xander and will be joined by Court Administrator Thomas Ambrosino. Xander will also have the opportunity to sign important legislation along with the Commissioner.

“We are excited about recognizing Xander and naming him ‘Co-Commissioner.’ It is important to acknowledge and encourage the young people in our communities,” said Commissioner Ifill.

Xander, described as a “quiet leader” by Boys & Girls Club staff, plays basketball for Charlestown High and serves as a Teen Associate in the Club’s Athletic Department, where he is admired as both a role model to his peers and a mentor to younger members, ages 6–12.

“Xander consistently demonstrates integrity, humility, and commitment to others. He is respected not only for his achievements, but also for his character, making a lasting impact on his peers, his community, and the next generation of Charlestown youth,” said Derek Gallagher, Executive Director, Grousbeck Boys & Girls Club of Charlestown.

His leadership and service were recently recognized at the Teen Recognition Dinner, where he received the prestigious Brickley Award, one of the highest honors presented by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston (BGCB), according to Mr. Gallagher.

Beyond athletics, Xander actively engages in programs that strengthen his skills and broaden his opportunities. He participated in the RISE Program with the Boston Police Department, fostering greater understanding and relationships between youth and law enforcement. Xander is currently a member of the BGCB's Ready to Work Program, where he is gaining valuable life and career readiness skills.
