News  Chelsea District Court to host virtual Women’s History Month Event: “Women Providing Healing, Promoting Hope”

Chelsea District Court will host its second annual virtual Women’s History Month celebration, “Women Providing Healing, Promoting Hope,” on Tuesday, March 1, at 11 am.

Seven influential women in the criminal justice, social service, and health care fields will be honored for their work and contributions to the courts and community.

The honorees include Dalila Argaez Wendlandt, Associate Justice; Julie Bernard, District Court Judge; Veronica Cunningham, American Probation and Parole Association (APPA) President; Silvia Guzman, Chelsea Defense Attorney; US Justice Angel Kelley; Katie O' Leary, North Suffolk Mental Health Director of Recovery Support Services; and Dr. Treniece Lewis-Harris, Cambridge Health Alliance Psychologist.

Chelsea District Court Chief Probation Officer Carmen Gomez and Judge Matthew J. Machera will kick off the celebration. Newly-appointed Trial Court Chief Justice Jeffrey Locke; Juvenile Court Chief Justice Amy Nechtem; and Probation Commissioner Edward Dolan are among the event speakers.

The celebration was planned and coordinated by the Chelsea District Court Probation Department; Martha Soto, Massachusetts Trial Court Staff Interpreter in the Office of Language Access; and Jessica Roman-Alvarez, Project Coordinator in the Office of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Experience.
