District Attorney Michael O’Keefe announced today that a Barnstable Superior Court Jury found Christopher Fratantonio (DOB: 11/28/1980, of Cotuit, MA) guilty of the charge of Murder in the First Degree. The jury deliberated for approximately two hours after a five day trial before returning their verdict. Judge Gary Nickerson sentenced Fratantonio to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
The charges stemmed from an incident that occurred on February 28, 2017 at approximately 1:50am when Barnstable Police received several 911 calls from various parties regarding a violent crime that had taken place at 89 Trout Brook Road in Cotuit where both parties lived.
When police arrived they observed Christopher S. Fratantonio at the house where he was arrested for the murder of his wife. Mary Fratantonio died as a result of multiple sharp force trauma.
The matter was investigated by Barnstable Police and State Police Detectives assigned to the District Attorney’s Office. The case was prosecuted by First Assistant District Attorney Michael A. Trudeau and Assistant District Attorney Michael A. Patterson.
District Attorney O’Keefe remarked: “I want to thank the jury for their work on this terrible case. I also commend the work of First Assistant Michael Trudeau and ADA Michael Patterson as well as all of the investigators who worked on this case. I hope the family feels some sense of closure.”
