Boston, MA — The Massachusetts State Ethics Commission today announced the appointment of David A. Wilson as its new Executive Director. As Executive Director, Mr. Wilson will oversee the administration and enforcement of the conflict of interest and financial disclosure laws and will manage a staff of 24.  Mr. Wilson has served as the Commission’s Acting Executive Director since July, 2016.  He has been an attorney with the Commission for 30 years, having served as Senior Litigation Counsel in the Commission’s Enforcement Division for almost 15 years before being appointed as the Deputy Chief of the Legal Division in 2001. He also served as the Commission’s Acting Executive Director in 2007.

“After a diligent search, we are pleased to announce that Mr. Wilson will be leading the Commission,” said Commission Chair Barbara A. Dortch-Okara. “His strong and creative leadership as Acting Executive Director, his 30 years with the Commission, and his wealth of knowledge about the application of the conflict of interest law will serve the Commission and the Commonwealth well.”

“I am honored and humbled to be appointed as Executive Director,” said Mr. Wilson.  “I am excited to have the opportunity to lead the Commission’s talented and dedicated staff and I am grateful that the Commissioners have placed their trust in me.”

Prior to joining the Commission, Mr. Wilson worked in civil litigation and arbitration at the former law firm Testa, Hurwitz & Thibeault. He is a graduate of Columbia University School of Law and Brandeis University.
