Court-involved individuals and probationers found employers interested in hiring them and more at the Community Connections Resource and Job Fair today. The event is being held at the Boston Community Justice Support Center (CJSC).

Today’s event features information sessions on record sealing, expungement, education and job training, as well as the opportunity for probationers to check-in with Probation Officers who are on site.

The Community Connection Resource and Job Fair also features more than a dozen CORI-friendly employers, human services agencies such as MassHire, the Office of Returning Citizens, and the Office of Black Male Advancement.

Shawnta Reid, Pretrial Services Operations Coordinator for Region 5, is the key organizer of this community-based event and it is one of many community engagement activities taking place at courthouses and Support Centers across the state. Community engagement is one of Probation Commissioner Pamerson Ifill’s top priorities.

“Recently, I wanted to find additional ways to assist our justice-involved individuals with locating job opportunities and services which will help them with prosocial activities and reduce the risk of recidivism. By organizing this event, it provides an opportunity for us to bring our community resources to the individuals we serve in a centralized location making it easily accessible,” said Ms. Reid.

The Pretrial Services Division is managed by Deputy Commissioner of Pretrial Services, Dr. Carmen Gomez, who oversees a staff that includes: Administrative Secretary Mahlet Kebede, Pretrial Services Administrator Natalie Lorenti, and Pretrial Operation Coordinators: Ms. Reid, Edward Colon, Jameson Dorrine, Donna Wilson, and Daniel Klein.
