PITTSFIELD — A Pittsfield man was arraigned this morning in Central Berkshire District Court on a murder charge. 31 year old JAMES CROMARTIE appeared before Judge Paul Vrabel.
CROMARTIE had a not guilty plea entered on his behalf on one (1) count of MURDER. Judge Vrabel ordered that he be held at the Berkshire County House of Correction without bail. CROMARTIE will be back in Court for a pre-trial hearing on November 15, 2017.
It is alleged that CROMARTIE shot and killed 30 year old James Dominguez III, of Springfield, near 129 Fenn Street in Pittsfield on January 23, 2016.
CROMARTIE was in possession of cocaine when he was apprehended on the murder warrant last night in Pittsfield. He was also arraigned on one (1) count of POSSESSION OF COCAINE WITH INTENT TO DISTRIBUTE this morning. Judge Vrabel set bail at $5,000 on that charge.
The investigation was conducted by members of the Pittsfield Police Department, with assistance from the Berkshire County Sheriff’s Office, and State Police Detectives assigned to the District Attorney’s Office, members of the Berkshire Law Enforcement Task Force, the Massachusetts State Police Crime Scene Services Section and the Massachusetts State Police Firearms Identification Section.
