Media Contact for Dennis Housing Authority Shows Progress in Recent Audit
Mike Wessler, Communications Director
Boston — State Auditor Suzanne Bump today released an audit of the Dennis Housing Authority. The report found the agency has made improvements to its operation since its last audit in 2010, but some past issues have remained unresolved.
Where past audits cited deficiencies, today’s report found the local housing agency has improved by now maintaining an operating reserve account balance above the current state’s required minimum and completing an annual physical inventory of the authority’s assets.
Today’s audit also acknowledged ongoing management deficiencies, specifically the authority’s backlog in unit turnaround has resulted in continued lost revenue.
The authority indicated that it is working to remedy all findings of today’s audit.
The Dennis Housing Authority operates 168 units of housing for elderly and handicapped residents as well as families.
The Office of the State Auditor conducts technical and performance assessments of state government’s programs, departments, agencies, authorities, contracts, and vendors. With its reports, the OSA issues recommendations to improve accountability, efficiency, and transparency.
