News  Dorchester Recovery Court Celebrates Graduate Who is Also Named Court’s Very First “Alumnus Mentor”

Dorchester resident Johnny Cortez graduated from Dorchester Recovery Court on July 18th during a ceremony attended by the Recovery Court Team, Recovery Court participants, and Mr. Cortez’s family.

Mr. Cortez, who was named the court’s very first “Alumnus Mentor” was recognized for his “remarkable dedication and effort in his recovery journey,” according to said Kerri Cianciarulo, Specialty Court Coordinator.

An Alumnus Mentor is a Recovery Court graduate who assists participants in their recovery journey.

“Mr. Cortez has built a solid foundation and developed meaningful connections with both team members and fellow participants. As an active member of the recovery community, he has often supported others in their struggles,” said Ms. Cianciarulo.

In addition to serving as an Alumnus Mentor, Mr. Cortez completed his HVAC training and certification.
