The Commonwealth of Massachusetts set a goal to reach net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. This goal, set in 2021 upon the release of the Clean Energy and Climate Plan for 2050, put an emphasis on how heat in homes, power in vehicles, and the electric grid may be operated without relying on fossil fuels. Since then, the Operational Services Division changed some Statewide Contracts to prioritize these sustainability goals, including contracts dedicated to vehicles and transportation, as an example. Statewide Contract VEH102, for Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure, covers the use of advanced vehicle technology, equipment, supplies, and services.

Electric vehicles and their infrastructure are complex, so the Pod Squad at the Operational Services Division met with OSD’s Strategic Sourcing Team to further discuss the topic. In this episode of WOSD News, Category Manager Kelly Thompson Clark shares her expertise on Statewide Contract VEH102 to assist buyers interested in implementing charging infrastructure to complement their electric vehicle purchases.
