Massachusetts Probation Service employees and Cultural Proficiency Champions— also known as Champions—at the Massachusetts Probation Service Training and Operations Center (MTOC) used funding allocated for Cultural Appreciation Week to provide a meal for individuals at WHEAT Community Connections, Inc. in Clinton

The Champions—Lisa Cruz, administrative coordinator; Julie Grady, administrative coordinator; and Noemi Flores, Warrant Management Unit (WMU)

Chief Probation Officer—rolled up their sleeves on Wednesday to help package the meals for distribution. The meals included: fresh pizza and salad.

“We proudly volunteered at WHEAT Community Connections, our local community food pantry. Instead of spending the CAW funds, we held a potluck dinner and used the money to help people who are struggling—making a meaningful impact in our community,” the Champions stated.

According to the WHEAT Community Connections website, the organization has “served residents of the Greater Clinton area since 1982 and in 2012 became a direct service program of the United Way of Tri-County. WHEAT continues to be a local organization supporting local residents through care, compassion and quality programs and services.”
