News  Essex Juvenile Chief Recognized at Law Day for Four Decades of Service to Local Children and Families

Essex Juvenile Chief Probation Officer Colleen O’Donnell was presented with the Lynne M. O’Connell Award at Lynn District Court’s Law Day Celebration for her 38 years of service to the children and families of Essex County.

"I am truly honored to be recognized in this way. It was a very special moment. With that being said, every single person that I work with in Juvenile Probation is deserving of accolades for the commitment that you all show every day."

Staci Gergely, Essex Juvenile Assistant Chief Probation Officer (ACPO), presented Chief O’Donnell with the award named in honor of Ms. O’Connell who served as a legal advocate for children in Essex County until her passing on March 8, 2011 following a brief illness.

Lynn Public School children attended Law Day, an event hosted by Essex County Juvenile and Lynn District courts on Monday, April 28, which featured mock trials and courthouse tours.

Attendees also included Chief Justice Dana M. Gershengorn, Kathryn M. Phelan-Brown, Statewide Juvenile Probation Supervisor Joseph Abber, First Assistant Chief Probation Officer Marc Carregal, Assistant Chief Probation Officers Mark Webber and Kathleen Sylvia, Probation Office Manager Amanda Le, and Probation Officers April Anderson, Amie Kelter (POII), Alyssa Villar-Dossett, and Gregory Lauranzano.
