Lynn, Massachusetts — Everett Police Officer Jermaine Bellard, 32, of Saugus, was arraigned today in Lynn District Court on one count of Assault & Battery on a Child with Injury, in connection with an alleged beating of his 10-year-old son.

Essex Assistant District Attorney Mark Byron requested that the defendant be held on $10,000, stating that the defendant allegedly struck his son on the buttocks multiple times with a belt because the boy had gotten into trouble at school.

Judge Ellen Flatley ordered the defendant held on $1,000 cash bail and ordered him to stay away from his son and the child’s mother.

The defendant was represented by Attorney Terry Kennedy and is presumed innocent until proven guilty. He is scheduled to return to court on August 6 for a pre-trial conference.
