One of the first signs of spring is when the community service vans, operated by the Massachusetts Trial Court Community Service Program, roll out and head toward local parks and monuments where probationers participate in spring clean-up.

Community Service Regional Program Manager John Monahan recently shared that the online community chat of the Town of Fairhaven was abuzz after residents observed work being done at Pierce Memorial Park.

“It was a community service crew. They did a great job. That is who cleaned it today—nice crew,” a resident remarked in the community chat.

The community service crew—which included four probationers—removed fallen limbs, trash, leaves and brush. They also raked and manicured the lawn.

According to Statewide Supervisor David Skocik, more projects are being planned across the state by the Trial Court Community Service Program, including an annual statewide Earth Day clean-up.
