When Jacqueline Ruggiero - Roberts first joined the Massachusetts Probation Service as a Mail Clerk Receptionist in 1986, the most popular movie was "Top Gun," starring Tom Cruise; a hit song was "How Will I Know" by Whitney Houston, and a popular book was "The Bourne Supremacy," by Robert Ludlum.

After 40 years with MPS, Ruggiero-Roberts is closing the book on this chapter of her life and retiring after serving as a member of the Administrative Services Division in Personnel for more than 35 of those years. Her last day with the Service is today, Friday, May 1, 2026. A group of her OCP colleagues gathered in the conference room to wish her well.

Ms. Ruggiero-Roberts began working in the Office of the Commissioner of Probation, "OCP," on April 28, 1986 as a Mail Clerk Receptionist. In this role, she dealt with members of the public who were seeking a copy of their criminal record. Ms. Ruggiero-Roberts held the position titles of Update Clerk and Record Clerk and in March 1996, she became Administrative Secretary within the Personnel Department. She subsequently held the positions of Administrative Assistant, then Fiscal Specialist, her current role before retiring. In her role as Fiscal Specialist, she was responsible for a myriad of duties relating to personnel maintenance, hiring, employee personal data- management and leaves of absence.

"I've worked with Jacqui for more than 38 years. She's been a member of the Administrative Services Division for more than 35 of those 38 years. I have to say, Jacqui is one of the nicest and most caring individuals that I've had the pleasure of knowing and has been a wonderful member of my division. What you see with Jacqui is what you get and she’s given a lot over her 40 years of service!," said Yvonne Roland, Deputy Commissioner of Administrative Services.

"Jacqui’s dedication, hard work, and positive spirit have left a lasting mark on everyone here at OCP. Her contributions over the last 40 years have been invaluable. While I’ll miss her greatly, I wish her a retirement filled with happiness, relaxation, and everything she loves," added Marissa Pina, Manager of Administrative Services.
